About Me
Louise is a prime example of the faith in pivoting your career to see your true dreams realised.
Born to Jamaican parents in Birmingham, UK. Louise always had a strong sense of self, style and a creative nature which saw her initially look to develop this interest as a dressmaker, following in the trade her mother held. At the age of 25 she moved to London to embark on a career as a Massage & Beauty therapist, that would span 14 years and would see her as a resident therapist at the House of Commons, and some of the world’s most renowned luxury hotels.
The Story
After the passing of her mother, Olive Adassa Meddar, in 2012, and with her ever present words of encouragement as a driving force, Louise took a step back from her career as a therapist to pursue her true passion, fashion design, with a specific emphasis on accessories.
The debut collection is Inspired by the chic and elegant handbag collection her mother took pride in donning as part of her Sunday best. The process was cathartic, healing and Louise found solace in creating something that would honour her mother’s legacy for a lifetime and that is the Louise Meddar brand.
When musing on who she creates pieces for, Louise is open in admitting, that first and foremost, her designs are for her, having struggled to find pieces that spoke to the timeless functionality that she wanted for everyday use from this Louise feels that those who appreciate classic simplicity with the utmost quality will resonate with her work.
